UPDATE : March, 2011

There have been a number of gratifying events recently. MODE Records will finally be releasing a trio recording that is very special to me. The working title is SWANSONGS and the material is drawn from some of my favorite and most unique composers, including Annette Peacock, Steve Lacy, Paul Motian, Dave Holland, and Bill Dixon. Also on the disc are my own compositions in tribute to Albert Ayler and Paul Bley. It is due out late this year.

The trio is a special one, too. I cannot say enough about the magnificient music of drummer Todd Capp, a player who is criminally under-recorded and under-appreciated. The bassist is Reuben Radding, who brings a deep seriousness and fullness of sound and conception at all times, and it is always effortless to play with him because he makes it effortless. I am very proud of the highly evolved music we made on this disc. It has taken a long time to find the right people to make this music.

Clean Feed Records (Lisbon) has released AFTERFALL. This quintet date, recorded in Lisbon, was led by guitarist Luis Lopes and brought together the trumpeter Sei Miguel with Parisian bassist Benjamin Duboc, me and drummer Harvey Sorgen. It's a beautiful recording that has received a good deal of attention both in Euirope and in the US.

The English FMP label has released SOMETHING QUIET, a drummerless trio disc by pianist Bob Gluck. Bassist Christopher Dean Sullivan and I joined Bob on a set of his special compositions.

I was honored to play on E.J. Antonio's recording RITUALS IN THE MARROW , along with bassist Christian McBride, french hornist Mark Taylor, trumpeter Eddie Allen, drummer Mike TA Thompson and bassist Christopher Dean Sullivan.

The important ICTUS label has released two discs of music by me and the wonderful percussionist Andrea Centazzo. THE WAY: LIVE IN WOODSTOCK Vol. 1 and Vol. 2 are both available worldwide now.
